“If the spirit of the ruler rises against you, Do not leave your post; For conciliation pacifies great offenses.”
Retaliation. Revenge. Rejection.
Those are a few things we might feel to a certain level whenever someone else is significantly unhappy with us. This passage uses the example of a ruler expressing dissatisfaction with a subordinate, but the principle in the second half of the verse can be applied to any situation.
Where is my heart? Ecclesiastes 10:2 says, “A wise man’s heart is at his right hand, but a fool’s heart at his left.”
During Bible times, the left hand was seen as bad. Right-handed people were good, and left-handed people had a severe problem. Of course, we know that there is nothing inherently about the left hand, but the cultural view was highly regarded.
One verse, but a compelling one indeed: “Dead flies putrefy
Wow, I really enjoyed this passage. To summarize, a small city with a few people in it were besieged by a large army (sounds like the Alamo, eh?).
However, there lived in the city a man who was poor but wise and because of his wisdom (and I assume his cunning), the city figured out a way to thwart the enemy and survive.
Why do I sometimes engage in activities into which I don’t pour my energy? It’s a waste of my time. In fact, it’s a waste of God’s time.
Have you ever thought about the manner in which God accomplishes things? Whenever He does something, He does it to the best of His perfect ability. However, He’s not constrained by time, so time is a non-factor.
